Questions on Phone Recorder D4002 SleuthGear (195 hours)
- From: Bob
- Will the D4002 automatically record all calls without any intervention to start or stop it?
- Hi Bob, no, the D4002 does not have line-activated recording. If you would rather have the line activated type of phone recorder, take a look at our FSV-256 model. Here's a link to it: http://www.telephonecallrecorder.com/fsv256-133hour-phone-cell-phone-digital-recorder-p-56.html

- From: Tony
- Can I upload recorded messages to my iTunes library so i can burn it to a CD?
- Hi Tony, yes, it is possible to import into iTunes because it saves the phone recording files in standard MP3 format. In fact, you wouldn't need to use iTues, but you can. You can just burn them directly to a CD if you wish.

- If you want this for a cell phone...how exactly does it work? Do you have to be near to hear the conversation? what is connected to the cell phone? Will the cell phone person know you are recording them?
- Hi Curious, if you look at the picture of the universal cell phone adapter, you'll see that one end of it is a plug and the other end of it is an earpiece. You put the plug into the recorder, and the ear piece in your ear. Then, you hold your cell phone up to that same ear and have your cell phone conversation as usual. (It doesn't actually even plug into the cell phone, that's how it's universal and will work with all brands.) There's a built in microphone in the ear piece that picks up both sides of the conversation. For your last question, no, there's no beeps or anything so the person on the line will not know you're recording.

- Will this device be able to record both sides of the phone conversation without being connected to the phone?
- Hi Tiffany, that's correct, it connects to any wall jack in your house, not an actual phone. Then it records both sides of all conversations on any phone that is on the line, no matter what jack the phone is plugged into. However, please note, this does not do "automatic" recording, this model you do need to press the button on the recorder when you want to start or stop the recorder.

- From: Annette
- Can this be placed on an office phone that has 4 roll over lines?
- Hi Annette, if you mean you just want to record that one telephone, then yes. But if you mean you want to record all 4 lines at the same time that are being used by 4 different people, then no. If you do just want to record the one telephone then what you do is get the optional Handset Adapter to go with it, and use that to connect the recorder to the telephone's handset cord.

- From: Joann
- How does this work with a cable line? My phone line is not connected to a wall jack but to a cable box...
- Hi Joann, wherever you normally plug your telephone in is where you would plug the recorder in. So if it's your cable box, then you unplug the telephone and plug the recorder in it's place. Then there's a spot on the adapter that comes with the recorder that you plug the telephone back into.
