How To Record Phone Calls

by Craig

If you need to know how to record phone calls, it’s really quite easy. There are no special technical skills required and setup can be done in just a matter of minutes. There are small devices called phone recorders that are now affordable and available to the general public.

Both Sides Of The Conversation

One of the most commonly asked questions is if the phone recorders will record both sides of the conversation. The answer is always yes for any of the phone recorders we sell. No matter which model you choose, it will record both sides of the conversation, and nobody will know they’re being recorded.

Record Phone Calls At Home

You can record phone calls in two different ways at home. You can either connect a phone recorder into an existing wall jack, or, you can connect a recorder to a phone base. The difference is which phones in the house you can record. If you connect to the wall jack, you can record all calls in the house on that same line because you’re connected directly into the line. If you connect to a phone base, then you are only limited to recording calls on that one phone.

Connecting To A Wall Jack

Many people use this method when they want to secretly record phone calls of other people in the house without them knowing. For example, if you have a spare wall jack in your bedroom you can connect a phone recorder to, then it will record phone calls made from the kitchen phone or the kids bedroom. As long as they never see the phone recorder in your room, they’ll never know they’re being recorded.

Connecting To A Phone Base

If you use a phone that is not cordless, but has a corded handset, then you can get a phone recording device that connects to the phone itself. It connects to the base where the handset cord normally plugs in. (Then handset plugs into the recording adapter). This makes it convenient to operate the recorder because it’s right there by the phone that you use. This method is typically used when the calls you want to record are your own phone calls.

I hope this quick post answered some general questions about how to record phone calls. If you have any further questions, please post a comment below and we’ll respond to your questions and continue the discussion. Phone recording is really quite easy once you have the right device.

Does the phone recorder affect the internet DSL reception in the house? Thanks Lynn

Hi Lynn,

No, connecting the phone recorder to your DSL line will not affect it. The only issue with DSL is that you have to make sure you have a DSL filter on the phone line you use to connect the recorder. You need the filter so the recorder will work properly. Your DSL provider may have given you some filters when you first switched to DSL, or you can get them at most any store that sells telephone accessories.

Thanks for stopping by and please comment again if you have any further questions.
