How Much Does a Phone Recorder Cost?

by Craig

Want to know how much a phone recorder costs? Like most consumer electronic products, the prices will vary greatly depending on the manufacturer, features and their availability. Here, we’ll take a look at some of the most common types of phone recorders and reveal how much you can expect to pay for them.

Before going into the average price of phone recorders, you must know that prices are constantly changing when it comes to any electronic device. When a device uses dated technology, the value drops and it’s sold for far less money than it originally was. On the other hand, when a new device comes out using the latest technology, the value is higher.

Most phone recorders fall into one of two categories – digital or cassette. Both of these will successfully record any phone conversation you need them to, but there are many differences regarding how they function, what features they have, and the price they’re sold for.

Digital Phone Records

Digital phone records operate in many different ways, but most allow you to hook the device up to your cell phone or land line and record the audio on a memory card or hard drive. You can then transfer this audio clip to your computer through a USB cable or by simply using a memory card adapter.

Some of the more advanced digital phone recorders are stand-alone and don’t require the use of a PC, although they may give you the option of connecting it to your PC in order to transfer the recorded voice data. So, how much can you expect to pay for a digital phone recorder? Most of the higher-end models with all of the important features will run you anywhere from $160 to $250. While they should come with storage, you may want to purchase an extra memory card for backup.

Cassette Phone Records

A cassette phone recorder uses a standard cassette to capture audio on. You can connect these to a land line, VOIP or digital phone line to record both incoming and outgoing phone calls. The length it records for is based on the size of cassette used.

The average price of a cassette phone recorder is usually only around $100. You’ll have to pay extra for cassettes to record on, but these are dirt-cheap at most stores. While the price for a cassette phone recorder is inexpensive, they’re still more than capable at capturing clear audio of any and all phone calls necessary.

There’s really no other costs associated with phone recorders besides the data storage. Most recorders will come with some basic storage, such as an on-board hard drive, memory chip or cassette. You’ll have to decide whether or not you need more storage. Remember, with digital recorders, you can simply transfer all of your audio files over to your PC and then delete them from your memory card or device.
